Matthew 25:13

Matthew 25:13
Therefore stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

I always feel like I need to get all of my work done before I can sit down and really pray.  This means that if I do have time for prayer if comes very late in the day when I would rather be asleep in bed.  But more often than not it means that I end up putting prayer off completely and instead focus on my other responsibilities.  I reason with myself: "I can't really focus on prayer when I know I have all these other things to do anyway.", I will have a better prayer time if I finish everything else first.  Then I will have a clear mind for prayer.",  I will be able to devote a larger chunk of time to prayer tomorrow (or next week) if I just get this stuff done today."  These statements never come true.  By the end of the night I'm to tired to focus on praying and there will always be more work to be done.  I am putting off talking to God until some unspecified point in the future all because have other things to do.

Which is more important?

Which one can help you with the other?

A good friend of mine always told me

"Make time for God, he will make time for everything else."

We need to stay awake in our prayer life.  This needs to be a top priority for we "know neither the day nor the hour" (and because I know that in my life 'later' usually means never.)

Dear Lord, Help me to make you my top priority.
